Steffi, on her summer internship experience
When I first started my undergrad at McGill University I didn’t know exactly what career I wanted to pursue. Around the end of my first year, I started to notice the campaign “CA Nothing less” which was taking place all around Montreal and on campus. I started to do my own research about the CA profession and I finally decided to enroll in accounting. A summer internship was really important for me, simply because I wanted to make sure that I made the right choice. I also wanted to get an inside look of an accounting firm; I was curious about the reality of the CA profession because at school we were only learning the theoretical aspect of it. |

Throughout the summer I discovered a whole new aspect of the profession; the human side of it! The most important thing I learnt at RSM Richter during the internship is how important teamwork is. I was never assigned work and left alone to do it. I could seek help from anyone — partners to juniors. At RSM Richter, everyone is accessible; people keep their doors open so anytime I had a question I could just drop into their office. Also, as I worked on different projects (internal stage in consulting, the planning of the
fundraising events), I also had the opportunity to continuously meet new people from the firm. Learning about a professional’s personal work path was really enriching because I could picture what was next for me in the future. I also had the opportunity to put into practice what I have learned in class. Overall, the internship was an amazing experience and it has been a great source of motivation for my future studies. Indeed, now I know what to expect from the business world and I am looking forward to jumping in with both feet!

Jordan, on his summer internship experience Let me begin by saying that I really enjoyed my experience here, and that it was much more than I expected! Here are a few highlights from my experience...
First off, the atmosphere at RSM Richter is quite simply incredible. I rubbed elbows with wonderful people and made friends with several summer students. I really wish that I’d met them all sooner! |

The people to whom I was assigned were also amazing. In a word, I have nothing but good things to say about the environment in which I worked.
As for the various activities –
the trip to Québec, the summer activity, the dragon boats and the fund-raising – they were truly appreciated! Team spirit was fostered all summer long, and the firm was full of energy and enthusiasm. In my opinion, the activities that were selected exemplify the RSM Richter philosophy, namely teamwork first!
My two assignments and my in-house training provided me with knowledge that will help when I return to my final year of undergraduate studies. Because of this summer’s experience, I’ll have a better grasp of what we’re learning in class and I’ll be able to relate it to much of what I learned in the field. The time that I’ve spent here has made me realize that the accounting profession, while tough and demanding, makes it possible to work with people in a collaborative environment that is crucial to the orderly conduct of business. In conclusion, I would simply like to say that I feel privileged to have had an opportunity to train here at RSM Richter. Believe me, everything about my stay here has been positive.
