In recent years, accounting standards have become much more complex, and financial reporting requirements have followed suit. This trend is not going away.
Canadian public companies just published their first IFRS financial statements even though the transition is far from over. The IASB has more than 30 review projects on its agenda for the next three years (More information on this can be found on our IFRS page). Canadian private companies are also carrying out their transition to the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE). If this transition is less complex, the fact remains that these new standards will also introduce significant changes for those companies.
