Dominique's experience as a fundraiser My experience as a summer student at RSM Richter has confirmed my desire to pursue a career as a CA. What’s more, the firm also let me develop my humanitarian side. Indeed, we summer students have an interesting challenge to take up! We must plan and organize activities to raise funds for research into childhood diseases, i.e. for the Foundation of Stars. Our objective was to raise more than last summer’s students. |

For me, this is a highly rewarding and stimulating experience. First, we have to be creative, coming up with original ideas to get people involved and willing to contribute. Second, we have to practice our organizational skills to meet our deadlines. Finally, we develop our team spirit in an effort to help each other achieve a common objective.
My personal contribution consisted in organizing a pastry sale with my colleagues. We baked all kinds of desserts and sold them throughout the firm, with great success. I also took part in a comedy show, which was a golden opportunity to practice our English while having some fun. At the end of the summer, we will have the Club Party, a friendly get-together. These are just some of the events that RSM Richter uses to show that “Giving Counts!”.

Julie's experience as a fundraiser Quite often, I hear people say that they would like to be able to give back to the community and that they wish they had more free time to participate in charitable activities. At RSM Richter, each summer student was given the opportunity to participate in the firm’s first annual Community Day. This day allowed over 300 employees at RSM Richter to forget about work for one full day and simply give back to the Montreal community. Personally, this day was one of my most memorable and rewarding summer internship experiences. Through this community giving, I felt that I had accomplished something larger than my day-to-day work and school activities. |

In addition to the Community Day, the summer students were asked to organize a series of charitable events to raise money for the Foundation of Stars. We were given the responsibility to organize several activities in order to raise over $8,500. Although this proved to be a very challenging target, it was very inspiring to work together towards a common goal. These fundraising activities allowed us to get to know each other very well, to develop a strong team spirit and to communicate effectively. At RSM Richter, I was given the time and support to do something important to me - giving back to the community!
